Ukraine is actively involved in all aspects of the UN, the most important of which is to maintain international peace and security and the rule of law in international relations and development cooperation in solving problems of socio-economic (соціально-економічних), humanitarian and human rights. 
Ukraine attaches particular significance of the United Nations to maintain international peace and security in participating in it as an important factor in its foreign policy. Since July 1992 Ukraine is an active contributor to military units and personnel to the operations of UN peacekeeping operations (PKO) (операції ООН з підтримання миру). Since March 2013 538 soldiers and officers of the Armed Forces participate in 7-PSO UN in DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo), Cyprus, Kosovo, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Sudan and South Sudan. For this indicator, Ukraine ranks 5th place in Europe. 
Cooperation with UN disarmament focuses on strengthening international instruments and regimes in the field of arms control, nonproliferation, compliance of sanction regimens of Security Council. Based on the urgent need to develop effective measures by the international community to combat terrorism, Ukraine joined the global anti-terrorist coalition confirmed its willingness to make every effort to joint fight against international terrorism, especially in the UN framework.
Ukraine is actively involved in the activities of the UN human rights field: twice (2006-2008 and 2008-2011.) it was a part of the newly established human rights body - the Council for Human Rights and actively participates in the Council as an observer. In May 2008 and October 2012 Ukraine successfully passed the Universal Periodic Review of the situation of human rights in the country, the results of which are approved March 14, 2013 during the 22 nd session of the Council. Priority in today's international cooperation covers issues of sustainable development and environmental protection, combating global climate change. The main role in this area as the UN plays a major source of international environmental law. Ukraine is a party to more than 40 global and regional environmental conventions and agreements, an active participant in negotiations on a new international agreement to replace the Kyoto Protocol to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
On the program of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Ukraine cooperates within the trilateral initiative on Environment and Security UNEP, UNDP and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe - OSCE. At the present stage of international cooperation, more attention is given to agriculture, including in the context of solving the food, social and environmental problems. In 2008 Ukraine supported the activities of the United Nations to provide humanitarian assistance to the food crisis stricken countries, and in 2009 - was among the donors of the World Food Programme - the largest of organizations that provide assistance. Ukraine's membership in the Council of Europe is an important factor in integration into the common European legal space by bringing national legislation in line with the organization. The main directions of cooperation between Ukraine and the Council of Europe, in particular, human rights and social cohesion, judicial reform, the fight against corruption is the basis for the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine 2008-2011. According to the Charter of the Council of Europe, Ukraine is represented in all major organs of the Council of Europe; in 2010 - 2011 рр.'s Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of Ukraine Council of Europe. Ukraine as a party to the Convention and the OPCW State Party since November 1998 has been actively involved in the relevant organs of the international organization, based on the need to strengthen the global regime of non-proliferation, development and strengthening international cooperation in the direction of chemical disarmament, protection of national interests in the development of chemical science and industry. (Україна як сторона Конвенції і держава-учасниця ОЗХЗ з листопада 1998 бере активну участь у роботі відповідних органів цієї міжнародної організації, виходячи з необхідності зміцнення глобальних режимів нерозповсюдження зброї масового знищення, розвитку і активізації міжнародного співробітництва в напрямку хімічного роззброєння, захисту національних інтересів у сфері розвитку хімічної науки та промисловості).
In period from May 2009 to May 2011 Ukraine was a member of the Executive Council of the OPCW, which involved the participation of Ukrainian delegation in its current sessions are regularly convened to consider the urgent issues of chemical disarmament and activities within the organization, development and adoption of relevant decision-making and more. (У період з травня 2009 до травня 2011 рр. В Україні була членом Виконавчої ради ОЗХЗ, що передбачало участь української делегації в її поточних сесіях, які регулярно скликаються для розгляду актуальних питань хімічного роззброєння і діяльності в рамках Організації, розробки і ухвалення відповідних директивних рішень тощо).
The sessions Vykonrady considered a wide range of issues related to the analysis of the Convention of the States Parties, especially in the context of liquidation declared a number of former chemical weapons and objects of its production; assessment of the impact of technological development on the Convention and the status of its implementation at national level; prospects for further universalisation of multilateral treaty and the development of international cooperation in the framework of the OPCW, including with the aim of combating "chemical" terrorism, etc. (Під час сесій Віконради розглянуто широкий спектр питань, пов'язаних з аналізом виконання Конвенції її державами-учасницями, в першу чергу, в контексті ліквідації задекларованої низкою країн хімічної зброї та колишніх об'єктів з його виробництва; оцінкою впливу науково-технічного розвитку на дію Конвенції та стан її здійснення на національному рівні; перспективами подальшої універсалізації цього багатостороннього договору та розвитком міжнародного співробітництва в рамках ОЗХЗ, у т.ч. з метою протидії проявам "хімічного" тероризму, тощо).

cooperation under Article XI of the Convention, which encourages the State party to the Chemical Weapons Convention of mutually beneficial exchange of scientific and technical information, and provides the basis for joint research and applied projects (including in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, medicine, etc.);(співробітництво в рамках статті XI Конвенції, яка заохочує держави-учасниці КХЗ до розвитку взаємовигідного обміну науково-технічною інформацією, і дає грунт для реалізації спільних наукових і прикладних проектів (у тому числі в галузі сільського господарства, фармацевтики, медицини тощо) ;
impact on dealing with the elimination of chemical weapons that may affect the interests of Ukraine; (вплив на вирішення питань з ліквідації хімічної зброї, які можуть зачіпати інтереси України);
facilitate the inspection of the OPCW, related to inspections of the chemical industry of the Parties to the Convention; (сприяння інспекційної діяльності ОЗХЗ, пов'язаної з проведенням перевірок об'єктів хімічної промисловості держав-учасниць Конвенції);
further development of cooperation under Article X of the Chemical Weapons Convention, according to which each State Party to the Chemical Weapons Convention undertakes to provide assistance and protection against chemical weapons to any other country party to the Chemical Weapons Convention.
